Does a Black man or woman feel that having the right to vote is giving them Special Treatment? I wish I knew the answer. I am a white man, who has always had the right to vote.
Is Equality, Special Treatment?
Our fore fathers, who fought and sacrificed their lives for this country, understood that separation of church and state was vital to the health and welfare of this nation. Their vision for this country was that EVERYONE would enjoy the same Rights and Protection under the law.
Does Homosexual marriage diminish Heterosexual marriage? One argument is, YES. My question is, how?
No one is asking for the United States government to mandate that all churches marry Homosexual couples. What is being asked, is, that 2 people under the law must be treated equal under the law. Two people, who form a partnership with each other, should, by law, be given the same right to property ownership, hospital visits, health care, and tax benefits of those married individuals that are afforded that right.
Let me ask again, “Is EQUALITY, SPECIAL TREATMENT?”
Millions of people in this country are paying taxes to this government without the benefits and privileges that their heterosexual counterparts are given. Is this “EQUALITY”?
Does Governor Sarah Palin, a woman, feel that she is getting “Special Treatment” for being nominated to be Vice president?
Does Senator Barack Obama, a black man, feel that he is getting “Special Treatment” for being nominated to be President?
My hope is that BOTH of them feel that it is their “Constitutional Right” as citizens of this great country and that they BOTH understand that they are enjoying the EQUALITY that this Nation Defends, Honors, and Protects. What is FREEDOM without EQUALITY?
Is EQUALITY, SPECIAL TREATMENT?
It shouldn’t be.
